Qualified Charitable Distribution.
If you are 70½ or older, you can direct a tax-free gift from your traditional IRA to your church. This is called a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), and it is tax exempt.
If you are age 73 or 75 (depending on your birth year) and are required to take Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) from your IRA, a QCD can count toward your annual IRS requirement.
